Key takeaways:

• Five of the top 10 display apps were Games (same as Q4 2018) and nine of the top 10 video apps were Games (up from seven in Q4 2018)

  • The top seven apps in terms of programmatic video advertising volume on Android phones in Q1 2019 were all Games

• Just one app appeared in the top 10 for both display and video (Pixel Art: Color by Number)

Trending Android phone apps for display advertising (Q1 2019)

• Puzzle-based games dominated up top, taking up five of the first 10 spots: Wordscapes, Pixel Art, Word Stacks, Jigsaw Puzzle, and Wheel of Fortune

• Despite games taking up five of the top 10 spots, only one game ranked in the top five (Wordscapes)

• One Tools app (Call Recorder) and one Productivity app (Alarmy) both ranked in the top five

  • These two apps ranked seventh and sixth, respectively, in Q4 2018

Trending Android phone apps for video advertising (Q1 2019)

• Nine of the top 10 apps for in-app programmatic video advertising on Android phone were Games

• Text free (a Social app) was the only non-game to rank in the top 10; it also ranked in the top 10 for display and video in Q4 2018

• Every game ranked from No. 2 to No. 6 is a newcomer to Pixalate's quarterly top 10 trending app rankings
