Aug 20, 2026 — 2 new risk types added to High Risk Mobile Apps (Version 2.0) Standard and Enterprise

Effective August 20, 2026, Pixalate introduced two new risk types to High Risk Mobile Apps (Version 2.0) - Standard and Enterprise, expanding app-level risk coverage in our pre-bid blocking solutions.

What's Changing?

New Risk Types Added Two new risk types have been added to the High Risk Mobile Apps 2.0 blocklists:

Risk Type Code Description
New Apps newApp Apps published within the past six months that have not yet built the reputation needed to be fully evaluated. This flag isn't based on invalid traffic; it reflects the elevated likelihood of future misbehavior that comes with an app lacking an established track record.
VPN Apps vpnApp Apps that are used to hide the IP of the device and its real location.

Risk Type Visibility by Version The new risk type codes appear in the riskType column. In the Standard version, apps matching multiple risk types will display as "various." In the Enterprise version, all applicable risk types are listed as comma-separated values. 

What's the Anticipated Impact?

Blocklist Size Increase You can anticipate an approximate 37% increase in the HRA 2.0 blocklist size. This reflects the expanded app-level coverage from the two new risk types, not a change in your traffic quality.

What You Need to Do

For Clients Using HRA 2.0 for Pre-Bid Blocking Confirm your ingestion logic and blocking filters account for the two new risk types (newApp, vpnApp).

For Clients Still on HRA 1.0 Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager to complete your transition to HRA 2.0 ahead of HRA 1.0's deprecation on September 23, 2026.
